    Migraine Relief

    Aug 27 at 11:06 PM

I usually go with two Advil and some caffeine then lie down in the dark for an hour or so! Sometimes I use an ice pack, other times a warm pack depending on the day. Best of luck!

After doing some research, I ordered NOW brand butterbur with feverfew at Hedleys. Both have been used for migraine relief for generations. I usually try to take it right at the start when the migraine is still very small & I'm still in the "denial" phase. I've taken it later too, and it has helped depending on the cause of the migaine, but earlier is always better than later.

What helps any particular person does of course vary depending on the cause, so it is worthwhile taking the time to figure out the root cause first, and researching what might work best for that type of migraine. Even so, sometimes you find what works for you just through trial & error.

Of course, before taking any herbal anything, research its safety & contraindications. It is also best to consult 3 different respected/registered (with the American Herbalist Guild) herbalist sources (books/online). Don't trust just anything you find in a library or online. There is now a whole lot of incorrect and dangerous information on herbs online, especially since AI became a thing. It is better to be safe than sorry.

    Robaxacet

    Aug 31 at 8:41 PM

I find Robaxacet the best, believe it or not.

Some researchers think that uneven blood pressure in the brain is one of the mechanisms that create migraines. A lot of pres:cription medications for migraines work by elevating your blood pressure because they cause your blood vessels to constrict (tighten), and that relieves the pain.

Robaxacet has, in addition to the pain reliever (ibuprofen or acetaminophen, depending on the version you buy) has a muscle relaxant. I think it's that relaxant that does the trick for me, as acetaminophen alone doesn't do the trick (I am allergic to ibuprofen). Usually I just need to take the max dose (usually 2 pills) and lay down for a bit. That often will be enough to get rid of it completely. Where it doesn't get all of it, it at least makes it so I can be functional (as long as I'm not vomiting, dizzy etc).

It was a happy accident that I discovered this. I buy the generic version at Costco (or, I ask someone going to Costco to pick me up some). I can get a year's supply for like $12.

The other thing I do is that sometimes the migraine will focus in my right ear. If so, I find putting a hot magic bag (as hot as I can stand it) on it for about 20 mins helps a lot.

    Excedrin Migraine

    Sep 2 at 12:40 AM

    Can only buy US.

Has acetaminophen, aspirin and caffeine works super. I take a graval as well for nausea. Lay down in dark room. Best thing I have used.

Canada has a version but doesn’t have caffeine. It doesn’t work for me.

Now for a fun alternative. One activity works great. (Some would think not). Sex. Highly recommended from personal experience.

    Had migraines all my life.

    Super Patch

    Sep 5 at 9:51 AM

Hi, I personally do not get migraines, but I do get headaches from time to time. I know that is not the same but use the Freedom Super Patch when I do. Super Patch is a noninvasive and drug free technology that I have been using for over a month. I use the Liberty Patch daily to help bring my body back to homeostasis which has helped to reduce inflammation. My joints have never felt better. If you want more info feel free to reach out.

Excedrin Migraine is the bomb. I buy the generic walmart brand in the bottle of 200 when I can get to the US. In Canada, we now have Tylenol Ultra, which has 500mg Acetamenophen and 65mg of Caffeine - so in a pinch you could take one of those and add an Aspirin to it.
